Administrative Dashboard
A powerful administration dashboard is included in the PackFlash Publishing system to help you manage the various types of content on the site. You can use this module to drive as much or little of the decisions of the publishing system. It is meant to allow as much global control as possible and then allow the administrator to over-ride some of the default decisions at the module level so the behavior can be different than other places on the site if you choose to do so. |
Adding and Editing Articles
Adding articles can be as simple as adding a title, main content, and deciding the method for publication (publish right away, with a date, assign to someone else to do more work, or have it published with an issue when it gets published). There are also options for specifying a file (such as a PDF), a page on your site, an external url, or video as the main content of your article giving you the flexibility to publish anything you would like. |
Add and Edit Authors within An Article
Multiple authors can be associated with an article. They can be added "on-the-fly" while working within an article. It's also easy to create custom bylines and associate multiple contributors such as photographers and illustrators. |
Categorization of Articles and Association to Articles
Multiple categories and issues can be associated with an article. These categories can be created on the fly and be nested in a tree structure with parent categories. Issues can be created on the fly as well. |
Related Content
Information that is tagged as related will show up automatically in the Related Content Module (separate module that needs to be added on the same page as the Article Detail Module). Any file and any article can be related to each other and grouped accordingly. 3 different types of relationships of articles are possible: one-way relationship, two-way relationships, and ad-hoc groups. Any of these can be excluded from the Related Content Module and specified instead as an Insert that is embedded in the article itself. |
Insert Any Information Within the Body of any Article
Inserts provide the administrator the capability of adding information into the body of an article instead rather than having related information outside of the article itself. This is done by using an embed tag for each type of insert. Each insert can be defined with any type of content - free form text/html (such as a quote or testimonial), an image, related articles, or auxiliary content such as files (PDF or video, for instance). This functionality provides a great amount of flexibility to create dynamic web solutions. |
Image Management
An unlimited number of images can be associated with an article. These images will show up on the article detail page dynamically within an image rotator at one of 2 default sizes (large and small). Images will be re-sized accordingly to fit into the appropriate space. The image at the top of the list will be used as the thumbnail image on any appropriate lists that have thumbnails (re-sized appropriately). |
Search Engine Optimization
By default, PackFlash Publishing will make your article title, description, and keywords the Search Engine meta tags for title, description, and keywords respectively. The administrator can choose to over-ride this and make the search engine meta tags different from the article title, description, and keywords at their discretion. The system also make sure that the article title is used as an H1 tag for prominence on the article detail page as well. |
Comment Management
Administrators can see the comments waiting approval and the comments that have been approved and have the ability to unapprove comments as well. The name, date, IP address, and comment are visible so that the administrator can make a decision on whether to approve and can take action on any user that is abusing the posting rules of the site. |
Article Publication
Administrators can choose how their content can be viewed and published. An article can be presented as a "teaser" to get someone to register/login or be sent directly to the information. Templates with separate information can be used to entice someone to register with the site. Global article information is being tracked as well such as the number of views and the number of comments. |
